Fall Street Law Workshop Series

The JUSTUS JUNKIE Fall Street Law Workshop Series will kick off as teens head back to school and face new challenges. From bullying to negative peer pressure to facing arrest in lieu of suspension, teens have many ways they can land into the criminal courts.

The attorneys of the Street Law team will conduct 8 workshops for violence prevention, youth groups, and workforce development organizations, including Crushers Club and Jack & Jill, Inc.

We expect to impact 500 youth across the Chicagoland area. Our goal is to duplicate this series in the Summer and again in other regions in the U.S.

Summer Street Law Workshop Series

We are thrilled to continue our summer workshop series for the fourth year!

As temperatures rise in Chicago, so does the frequency of police-youth contact. According to the University of Chicago Youth-Police Contact study, these interactions have historically been overwhelmingly negative, leading to emotional withdrawal and negative impact on a teen’s self esteem.

Our past workshops have been transformative! Organization coordinators report that their youth feel more confident and are less confrontational when stopped by police. By in large, they also avoid arrest and court involvement after attending our workshops.

Parent Plus+ Justice Workshop Series - Virtual & In-Person

Not only do teens and young adults benefit from learning their Constitutional rights when stopped by police, but so do their parents!

Parents often feel unsure how to support or direct their sons and daughters on what to say or do during a police encounter. Oftentimes they rely on advice from friends or what they saw on TV.

Parents who have attended our trainings in the past often remark that everything they though they knew about the law was wrong. Therefore, everything they instructed their kids to do if stopped by police was not only incorrect, but dangerous.

This 3-part hybrid series will be in-person and on Zoom. We will record our live sessions and broadcast to socials.

We expect to impact 3500 women.
